Session 181 - A Gutter Skypes GodsToasting Special - Merry GodsToasting to All!
Our Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Adventure Continues with a Holiday Celebration on Quincunx! According the The Great Scholarly Wizard "Gary of Pequanic" - GODS-TOASTING is an annual Holiday Celebrated on the Island Nation of Quincunx, in the southern hemisphere of Zutain.
Legend has it that Quincunx was very difficult to farm for the first settlers. And when a Cherry Orchard finally yielded a bountiful crop, the planters all gathered and lifted their glasses in a toast to the gods for helping, or at least allowing it to happen.
The tradition was carried over each year... starting with a celebration dinner and a single Toast to whatever god any individual kept faith in. Over a hundred years it became a day of nearly continuous inebriation. Cultural variations of this celebration have worked their way in, and the introduction of Gifts being exchanged on the date became very popular.
Also, the practice evolved of paying a small charitable fee to Arcane Practitioners with expertise in weather manipulation. They being called upon to cover as much of Quincunx with snow as possible thus giving both town and wild lands at least a single day of "clean" and "pure".
It is universally agreed among all temples and faiths that GodsToasting is a Time for Aiding light against the dark, Meting out Justice against the wicked, Helping others in time of need, and restoring as much balance as possible to the world.

Blindgeek could not make tonight's session 'cause of Real Life scheduling, but will soon be rolling a character to join us all when the fun proceeds . . . Tonight was strictly the step-by-step beginnings of each party member watching their characters come alive slowly but surely as anim feverishly wrote it all down. All the hints were true! The Gutter Skypes spent two or three sessions cobbling together a FIASCO playset and We're calling it "FiasCon!" unless we think of something better or until someone tells us to stop.
The Grand over all theme of the Playset is the Science Fiction / Fantasy / Gaming / Comics Fan Convention experience and all the mayhem that can be placed in such a setting.
Filling in all the possibilities in the various categories was a challenging and entertaining experience all by itself, but with the chassis welded and the engine loosely wired up front . . we decided to slap some wheels on it and see if it would roll for a while.
Play Test Time! And to add fuel for fun and ramp up the creativity we were lucky enough to have two members of "The Big Red Couch" as our guests! Tonya and Kevin joined us to help kick the tires on this baby and check the handling.
In my opinion...to borrow from Hunter Thompson...this playset "corners like a Lotus." But I'm biased. And As Mister K pointed out... More testing is always a good thing.
Listen in and let us know what you think. It won't be long before we've got a Splash Page, Elevator pitch and all the missing parts filled in so Everybody who wants to can give it a try!
Mark Kinney Played 'Chet Mannly' and Game Mastered ( Yes... it's true FIASCO isn't supposed to require a GM . . but Mister K has been MORE than patient with our little delinquent, "rules challenged" crew and he keeps us on course and within the framework of the game. My aim for the next FIASCO we play is to learn the rules well enough myself so that Mark can relax too and just have a good time playing.)

Ladies and Gentleman - As you well know the Podcasting Seas for the S.S. "GutterSkypes" Have been ranging from Choppy . . to Downright terrifying, with Mountainous waves that threaten to capsize us.
It all has to do with the trials of Real Life and the chaotic nature of the Calendar and all-to-often a catastrophic synchronization of delays, events and misfortunes falling with Eerie precision every two weeks on a Wednesday that was normally blessed with calm.
It has therefore become prudent and wise - For The GutterSkypes to take a break. To recharge our collective Game Batteries, Convalesce and Most importantly.. lay low while the gods fling their cosmic Poo.
We WILL be Back together and recording after a Summer of avoiding direct sunlight and hopefully the notice and scrutiny of a suddenly malicious universe - At the end of September! The Adventures in Time and Space - Doctor Who . . will resume and we will Catch up on some additional and Very much appreciated Email.
