"But, why is it called The Villain's Nut Bowl?" I asked.

The Barkeep replied.
"Friend, it doesn't matter. It doesn't need to have a reason.
It doesn't have to make sense.

Most folks who come in here have one goal.
To sit in a warm, dry, clean place, left alone in peace with a good hot meal and a strong drink.
Maybe with friends. Maybe in a corner by themselves.

They don't care what the place is called.
Hells, half the time they're travelers and don't even remember the name of the town they're in."

He leaned in for a whisper . . .
"But I'll let you in on a little secret. . . My old Dad named the place knowing it was a strange and stupid moniker for a tavern.
But he put about that the true origin of the name was a carefully hidden secret.

And he encouraged all new patrons who asked about it to try and figure it out among themselves.
It was a great way to get strangers talking to each other.

They'd start with whatever outlandish set of reasons for the name they could think of.
Then a few other folks would chime in with other weird ideas, and before long they were ordering more drinks and getting to know one another.
Sharp Innkeep, my Dad was."
He gave a quick wink and he moved on to another set of small tasks at the end of the bar.
